Mahjong 101: Play Pretty - Alzheimer's Association in Charleston

Mahjong 101 - Play Pretty is a beginner-friendly introduction to the game designed to make learning fun, social, and stress-free. We start from the very beginning—no experience required. You’ll learn the basics of the tiles (Bam, Crack, Dot… and yes, Flowers are flowers 😉), how to read the card, simple game flow, and common terminology so you feel comfortable at the table.

This class is hands-on and interactive, with plenty of guided play, real-life examples, and time to ask questions as we go. The goal isn’t to rush—it’s to build confidence, connection, and a solid foundation so you can sit down and actually enjoy playing. By the end of Mahjong 101, you’ll understand how a game works, recognize patterns on the card, and be ready to move into guided open play.
