Mahjong 101: Play Pretty - Winnie's Cafe (Bridgeport)

Mahjong 101:  Play Pretty is a beginner-friendly introduction to the game designed to make learning fun, social, and approachable. We start from the very beginning—no experience required. You’ll learn the basics of the tiles (Bam, Crack, Dot… and yes, Flowers are flowers 😉), how to read the card, simple game flow, and common terminology so you feel comfortable at the table.

This class is hands-on and interactive, with plenty of guided play, real-life examples, and time to ask questions as we go. The goal isn’t to rush—it’s to build confidence, connection, and a solid foundation so you can sit down and actually enjoy playing. By the end of Mahjong 101, you’ll understand how a game works, recognize patterns on the card, and be ready to move into guided open play.  This class session is approximately 2.5-3 hours.
